When preparing to shoot at a new site, it's important to do a little research. The ceremony for the wedding I shot in May was at Broadway Christian Church. Located in Fort Wayne, IN this church is a hidden gem of downtown. Founded in 1974, BCC is rich with history.
When I first agreed to shoot this wedding, I was a bit apprehensive because I knew that the church, being as old as it is, would no doubt be filled with lots of dark-stained wood. I was absolutely correct. The funny thing is that I didn't realize how beautiful it made the church. Even before you walk into the church, you can see the breath-taking stained glass and intricate details of the doors.
While waiting for the groom to arrive for the first look, we spent time in the prayer room upstairs. A room full of stained glass, the prayer room was the perfect location to wait for the groom. There were many details that reminded you how old the church was in such a way that you can't help but appreciate the quality of craftsmanship from that time.
As you can see, the stained glass in particular adds a greater depth of beauty. There's something about large mosaics such as the image above, that make me feel in awe.
As we stepped outside to do a few shots, I found this gorgeous scene and knew it would make a great photo. The brickwork is vibrant, the concrete pillar adds a touch of elegance, and the doors in the background have those details that I so love. I was right! A beautiful photo.
If you have are a bride, looking for a beautiful church, this is it! If you are a photographer, don't hesitate to shoot here! You will fall in love with its beauty like I have.
